Daring Dark Blue Painted Furniture

dark blue painted furniture

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of dark blue painted furniture, as well as all the shades of blue! I picked up this pair of vintage end tables at my local Habitat ReStore for $15.  They were in fantastic shape, including the caning on the bottoms that … Read more

How to Use the Sunflower Transfer

sunflower transfer dresser bottom view

While there are probably as many ways to use a sunflower transfer as there are pieces of furniture, today I’m going to share one charming way.  This old dresser was handed down from my grandparents to my mother.  It was in mildly rough shape. I did a lot of veneer repair on the sides using … Read more

Jewelry Armoire Makeover

jewelry armoire wide shot

This oak jewelry armoire was beautiful in its day, but came to me in bad need of a makeover.  It belonged to my niece, but she was moving to a new apartment and decided to part with it.  Between the missing (and I found out, broken) hardware and the dirty fabric lining, I had to … Read more

Classy Small Dresser Makeover | Navy and Rose Gold

Hey Friends!  We got the first snow of the season here in Wisconsin today.  And in case you’re wondering, yes, this is pretty early for us.  I’m not ready!  Ready for Christmas season?  Sure!  But not ready for 20 degrees and snowing.

But let’s talk about happier things, like this dresser makeover.   I got this 3 drawer dresser from my mom.  She had it for many years, and her parents had it for many years before that.  She was ready to let it go, after she replaced it with this simple white antique dresser I painted.

It is quite plain and simple in its construction, but what better foundation for a stunning color and bling-y hardware?

By the way, check out my Comprehensive Guide to Dixie Belle Chalk Paint if you want more information about any of these products.

In the Navy

The color is Dixie Belle In the Navy, and it is so rich and saturated.  It is the BEST navy paint color I have ever used.  I tried out a new paint brush on this project too, Dixie Belle’s synthetic  “mini”.  It has a short handle that fits well in your hand, and it quickly became a favorite of mine.  It gave such a smooth finish and even application.  I have used it many times since, and I love it!

No repairs were needed, so the paint job was quick and easy.  I painted 2 coats of In the Navy, and then 2 coats of Gator Hide (using the blue sponge applicator).  Dixie Belle paint is quite thick, so I like keep my brush damp during painting by periodically dipping it in water.

I kept the original hardware, but gave it a little class with Rustoleum Rose Gold metallic spray paint.
